Language is Power.
Our Mission Statement
The Germanica Educational Institute Ltd. has grown from humble beginnings into a well-established educational institution.
The educational institute originated from a small translation agency near Vienna's Westbahnhof, specialising in translations from Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian and serving primarily the needs of immigrants.
Based on these experiences, the company's founder, Mirko Vrdoljak, became convinced that translations alone were not enough to help people. For successful integration and everyday life in Austria, learning German was essential.
As a result, Germanica Educational Institute Ltd. launched its first German courses in 1999. Shortly afterwards, the first computer courses followed, as entering the job market without basic ICT skills was considerably more difficult.
Today, Germanica is an educational institution offering German courses at all proficiency levels from A1 to C2 as well as job-related language courses. Germanica is certified by the Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF) and by the Austrian German Language Diploma (ÖSD) certified and works closely with the MA 35, the MA 17 and vidaflex , is an official cooperation partner of the AMS (Austrian Public Employment Service) as well as a recognised education provider of the Vienna Employment Promotion Fund (waff).
We are continuously working on our further development and on improving our current areas of activity. At the same time, we aim to expand our range of educational programmes.
Together with our external cooperation partners and our participants, we identify which educational programmes are needed to establish a successful footing in the Austrian education system and on the labour market.
We believe that everyone, regardless of their background, age, gender or any other personal characteristics, should have equal access to education and be able to participate actively in society without barriers. Language should not be an obstacle or limit people's personal development and quality of life. We create professional and social opportunities for our participants and support them in obtaining their certificates.
Germanica Educational Institute places great importance on treating everyone with openness and tolerance, as well as ensuring equal opportunities for all, regardless of their background, gender or other personal characteristics.
Furthermore, we attach great importance to promoting and supporting our trainers. We offer professional development opportunities to continuously maintain and further improve the quality of our teaching. Our educational institute is made up of a dynamic and eager-to-learn team that embraces innovation.
Our Guiding Principles
In our work with our diverse target groups, we are guided by the following shared principles:
- Our flexibility reflects the diversity of our target groups.
- Intercultural diversity is an integral part of everyday life at our educational institute, as many of our trainers have a migration background themselves.
- We strive to ensure that all participants achieve the educational goals they have set for themselves and successfully complete the examinations they wish to take.
- Participants should be empowered to continue developing individually and at their own pace. They should be able to apply the knowledge they have acquired in an interconnected way and independently use information and resources from libraries, available materials and modern media.
Our range of educational programmes should be comprehensive enough to allow interested individuals to complete an entire educational pathway with us without having to change course provider, for example:
- German integration courses
- Advanced German language courses for university admission:
- Level A1
- Level A2/1
- Level A2/2
- Level B1/1
- Level B1/2
- Level B2
- Level C1
- International ÖSD examinations
- ÖIF examinations:
- for residence permits
- for proof of citizenship
We are aware that the quality of our work does not depend solely on the continuous improvement of our processes and methods. Equally important is the attitude of our staff towards our participants.
